Holonomics is the term used to describe an approach to health based upon osteopathic medical knowledge, biophysics, mathematics, and does use medications and surgery, but that emphasizes Integrative Medicine.
Osteopathy is the Philosophy of Integrative Medicine, and Holonomics are the Mathematical Principles by which Integrative Medicine works. Holonomics takes into account multiple levels of health at once, so multiple strategies can be used to restore health.
Structural health and function of the muscles and skeleton play a very basic role in our abilities to function as human beings. An osteopath has the knowledge of general medical health, medicine, and surgery of an MD, but has different ways of understanding how the individual is handling their conditions and response to treatments.

Holonomics seeks to reverse disorder, dysfunction, and dis-ease in tissue, by taking into account how the patient's medical conditions are physically affecting their body and how it is interacting with medications, foods, herbs, or other nutritional therapies. Each patient's treatment and care plan are designed to fit their particular needs and condition.
In his medical practice, Dr. Holland emphasizes the osteopathic approach to healing with "hands on" osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) and an application of osteopathic philosophy to incorporate this integrated vision of the human organism as mind, body, and spirit into the treatment plan.
Osteopathic physicians can do all the things an MD can do, but MDs cannot do all the things a DO can do. DOs have OMT and Osteopathic Philosophy to use, in addition to traditional medicine and surgery. Each patient is seen as a unique, dynamic whole. Board Certified in Osteopathic Family Practice and in Osteopathic NeuroMusculoSkeletal Medicine, Dr. Holland specializes in Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT) and is well versed in the use of herbs and alternative therapies in the restoration of health.
We often treat complex and difficult medical conditions and try to provide patients with known conditions new strategies to cope with their problems or help them adapt better to their condition.
We strive to provide excellent holistic health care for each individual and family. We are not, however, set up for primary care and are not a family practice clinic. We take care of patients with more complicated or difficult conditions. We try to provide more than simple pharmacological or surgical treatment approaches for illnesses. We seek to restore health whenever possible.
